Hurricanes visiting Seawolves this Sunday

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and womens’ basketball teams will take the court on Sunday for back-to-back ACAA regular season action with the UNBSJ Seawolves in Saint John, New Brunswick; the women will start things off at 2pm with the men following at 4pm.

The women’s ‘Canes enter the game at 0-1 after a 64-60 loss in their home opener on Saturday versus the STU Tommies, while the Seawolves will be playing their first game of the regular season.

Lexi Macinnis scored 27 points to lead the ‘Canes in their first game of the season; a game that saw the ‘Canes fall behind by 13-points in the first half before mounting a comeback and eventually tieing the game in the final minutes.

Last season these teams met in the quarter-finals at the ACAA Championships with the Hurricanes earning the victory.  The Seawolves finished last season’s regular season with a record of 3-15 and in sixth, while the ‘Canes were 11-7 and in third.

The men’s Hurricanes enter this weekend coming off a 121-95 victory on Saturday versus the Tommies at home.

Jace Colley was the offensive leader for the Hurricanes in their first game of the season, scoring 34 points.

Last season, the Seawolves finished their regular season at 9-12 and in fifth, while the ‘Canes were 20-1 and eventually won the ACAA Championship, followed by the CCAA National bronze medal.

The Hurricanes next home game takes place on Saturday, November 17 when they host the Dal AC Rams at 12pm and 2pm (w/m) at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement in Charlottetown.
